HearTomo is an application that uses ECG (electrocardiogram) data, which records the electrical activity of the heart during its contractions, from the Apple Watch to independently analyze various aspects of physical and mental health. By measuring ECG data for 30 seconds, four times (a total of 2 minutes) using the ECG app on the Apple Watch, HearTomo provides the following four functions.
1. Slope and transition of 1/f fluctuation
The heart-beat-interval (RRI) data is converted into PSD (power spectral density), and FFT (fast Fourier transform) is applied to BPM (beats per minute) to find the 1/f fluctuation. The slope of the 1/f fluctuation is then calculated. The vertical axis is log₁₀ of PSD and the horizontal axis is log₁₀ of PSD frequency.
A value of -1 represents a state in which rhythmic components are blended "just right", which is considered pleasant in natural phenomena such as wind fluctuation or musical scales.
2. Lorenz plot
The Lorenz plot is one of the time-domain indices of autonomic nervous activity, and the heart-beat interval RRI(n) is the interval between the n-th heartbeat and the previous one. The Lorenz plot plots RRI(n) values on the x-axis and RRI(n+1) values on the y-axis.
3. Personalized emotion analysis
Data is learned and updated daily to perform personalized emotion estimation. The power value obtained from heart-rate-variability spectral analysis is integrated in the 0.04–0.15 Hz band, which is LF (low frequency) and primarily contains sympathetic nerve components. HF (high frequency), integrated in the 0.15–0.4 Hz band, contains parasympathetic nerve components.
Sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve activity is classified into four states: "high for both nerves", "high for sympathetic only", "high for parasympathetic only", and "low for both nerves".
4. Heart-rate conversion process
The red line shows the resting heart rate and the blue line shows the heart rate measured by HearTomo.

HearTomo can be used in any industry or business, but is particularly recommended as an employee benefit in jobs serving public transportation such as railways, taxis, and in construction — where human health is a valuable asset. It can also be deployed in combination with ZMP Inc.’s robots.
The HearTomo application has already launched in the United States, with plans to expand abroad to the United Kingdom, China, Vietnam, and other countries.
